The Chicken or Loaf of Bread
This position is a pretty typical one and not terribly intersting until you start to wonder where our arms went. They're still there, just tucked warmly under our chests. The tail is tucked in to the side for this one. It's a general keeping warm type pose. The name for this pose comes from the chicken wing effect achieved by the hip and hip fur, as seen below. The title "loaf of bread" or "kitty loaf" is inspired by the rather boxy shape our bodies take.

Hey --
Wanted to give some input on the "chicken sit", as me and my cats like to call it. I think we originally started call it that b/c it is reminiscent of a chicken sitting on her eggs. Compact and functional, the chicken sit is one of the more huggable poses.

PS: blogger word verificantions: "screst", "fumbarch", "pread" (LOVE IT)
